Insulin NeedleAmerican Diabetic Supply is a provider of insulin needles. We carry a variety of syringes and we encourage you to choose the one that is most comfortable for you. We would also like to give you some information you may find useful regarding your syringes.
You should never use your syringe more than once. Avoiding this will help prevent contamination and infection. Prior to administering your insulin, you should always wash your hands. You should then gently roll or rotate your insulin between your hands to ensure it is mixed adequately. Never shake your syringe!
You should always inspect your insulin. You should never use your insulin if it has expired, or its appearance has changed. Always wipe the top of the insulin vial with an alcohol swab and avoid touching it thereafter. This will prevent germs from attaching to the syringe or being pushed down into the medication.
Properly Draw Up Your Insulin
You should draw air into the syringe, and then turn the insulin bottle upside down. You should then press the needle into the vial. Slowly inject the air from the syringe into the bottle. Slowly rotate your vial of insulin. You can now withdraw your prescribed dose of insulin into the syringe. If you see bubbles in your syringe, you can gently flick the side of the syringe with your finger. It's important to get rid of the bubbles, since they can lead to inaccurate dosing. After injection, you should recap the needle and place it in a sharps container for disposal.
